Malvern Hill House
This beautifully restored freestanding heritage home in Croydon, Sydney, seamlessly marries the charm of its Victorian roots with a bold contemporary extension. Set within a leafy heritage conservation area, the home underwent an extensive renovation to not only restore its original beauty but also extend its footprint to suit the modern needs of a growing family.
The design process began with a commitment to preserving the character of the home’s original elements. Potter & Wilson, the architectural team, focused on designing the rear extension, alongside the creation of a striking steel-glazed facade that breathes modernity into the structure. Our role was to reimagine the interior, the contrast between the home’s heritage Victorian features and the contemporary European-inspired extension creates a warm, inviting atmosphere. Subtle yet rich colour selections, textured paint finishes, and the careful incorporation of mixed materials enhance the architectural details. The final design is an artful balance between the old and new.
