St Anthony Residence

This charming semi-detached house is an oasis in the heart of inner-west Marrickville. The original house was dilapidated with original ornate architectural details. The brief was to retain as much of the old-world charm as possible and integrate a new contemporary extension and first floor addition architecturally designed by Potter & Wilson. 

Key to the design process was to ensure the feeling of space and light was maximised, which proved to be a challenge working within a small footprint. We designed an open staircase, extra high ceilings, wall to wall joinery and full height cupboards to fulfil the brief. 

The design hero is the exposed brick wall which runs the length of the new extension, re-purposing bricks from the renovation and integrating them into the kitchen and dining area. This ultimately inspired the colour palette throughout – the result is a subtle, yet texturally expressive interior utilising colours to compliment the original heritage features in the home, linking the past and present.
